Has our technology advanced? Since Wadsworth was the first name in environmental controls for greenhouses we are sometimes asked if our technology has advanced over the years.

We are constantly working on advancements in controlling greenhouse environments. Wadsworth has introduces 7 new products in the past 4 years. As well as enhancing our current systems.

Our controls are in numerous USDA sites, top research universities, high schools, garden centers and some of the most respected commercial grower's greenhouses.

Most of our controls carry the STEP name. STEP is an acronym for Single Total Environmental Program. As Wadsworth's staged controls were the first environmental controls in the US, you may hear "STEP" and "staged" interchangeably. However, our line of controls represent both integrated and staged controls.

Wadsworth knows that no one control is right for every grower. That is why we offer different models to meet your budget and growing requirements.

Staged STEP Controls:

  • Operates heating and cooling equipment using one centralized temperature sensor
  • Assigns heating and cooling equipment into stages each stage is triggered by a different temperature.
  • Varying number of setpoints (day, night, DIF) depending on the model.
  • Operates virtually any equipment
  • Centralized temperature and RH sensor
  • Each piece of equipment has its own settings and can be activated by temperature, humidity, solar intensity.
  • Pro-active, anticipatory control adjusts climate based on outdoor conditions versus reacting to conditions inside the greenhouse.
  • 3+ Setpoint modes (Day, Night, Dif.)
  • Alarm capabilities
  • Logs all sensor information and all equipment operation in 15 minute increments.
  • Graphing capabilities.
  • Option to connect to a PC, stores data, allows remote access, advanced graphing, and stores crop settings to replicate results.
