Why
upgrade?
Save
money on energy costs:
- Ramping:
the STEP 50A has day and night temperature settings, but there
is no gentle transition like our newer controls. Growers who realize
that 80% of heating costs occur at night often set lower temperatures
to save money. A STEP 50A doesn't have the logic to gradually
lower the temperature so it will exhaust our warm air in order
to achieve the lower temperature.
- Sequencing:
the STEP 50A has 3 cooling stages and 2 heating stages. You set
the temperature and the cooling and heating stages automatically
come on as the temperate rises or lowers. You don't have much
control over when the heating or cooling actually starts to turn
on. Our newer controls allow precise control. If your crop can
tolerate wide temperature spans, for example you don't heat until
40 and you don't cool until 70, the STEP50A can't help. However
the EnviroSTEP or STEP Up controls offer precise on/off temperature
settings. So if you're trying to maintain a precise temperature
or if you're trying to allow a wide range they can achieve the
proper sequence and temperature.
- Information:
knowledge is power and when you upgrade from the STEP 50A you'll
move from a control that doesn't show the temperature in the greenhouse
to a control that logs indoor and outdoor temperature, shows you
when the equipment was running and stores it in the system. The
EnviroSTEP has alarm outputs if you want to be notified of hot
or cold conditions you can connect it to an Alarm Manager and
it will call you if your crop is at risk.
Jim
Bergantz recently completed an upgrade from a STEP 50A to an EnviroSTEP
and is thrilled with the results. Click here to read more.
How
does it work?
- When
placing the order let us know that you are doing an upgrade.
- We
will send you a rebate form. You need to include the serial number
from the control that you are upgrading.
- Once
you complete the form and return it to Wadsworth we will issue
you a check. All orders must be placed by Sept 30th- sorry no
exceptions.
